Bitcoin ETFs approved 🎉

After a decade of work, 11 spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were finally approved by the U.S. SEC, with trading beginning on Thursday.

The announcement did not go smoothly:

1. The U.S. SEC X account was compromised on Wednesday 👀

2. The filing was initially posted to the wrong part of the SEC website 🤦

3. Despite the approval, the SEC do not “approve or endorse Bitcoin” 😤

Bitcoin and Ethereum rallied, with knock-on effects to the floor prices of many popular NFT collections.

NFT PFPs on X are no more ❌

Two years after their debut on what was then Twitter, verified NFT profile pictures have been removed from X.

This comes as X is set to focus on peer-to-peer payments and advanced AI tools in 2024, and aligns with the broader trend of social networks rolling back their NFT-related features.

Otherside Trip 3 is on the way 🚀

Yuga Labs metaverse Otherside has released a trailer to announce that their ‘Trip 3’ playtest will take place next month.

The initial trailer sparked concern for its low frame rate, with the Otherside team receiving criticism from Yuga Labs co-founder Wylie Aronow.

This led to a tongue-in-cheek “remastered” trailer being released 48 hours later.
