Two Ronin giants strike alliance 🤝
Two of the most popular games on Ronin – Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse – have announced a collaboration, with $PIXEL gaining utility in the Forgotten Runiverse MMO.
Players of Forgotten Runiverse will be able to convert the game’s native currency, Quanta, into $PIXEL. These $PIXEL tokens can soon be used to purchase items such as Mana, temporary gameplay Boosts, and limited-availability assets.
On the flipside, Pixels will add quests inspired by Forgotten Runiverse, and a special avatar tied to the MMORPG will be made available in the coming weeks.
This marks the first time that $PIXEL has utility outside of the Pixels ecosystem - with rumours swirling that other Ronin titles may look to do the same later this year.
Rare Doodles NFT sells for $1M+ loss 📉
Doodle #6914, known as the Golden Ape Doodle for its rare appearance, has sold for 34 ETH ($61,375 USD) – marking a huge loss for its seller, noted NFT collector Pranksy.
Pranksy initially purchased the NFT for 296.69 ETH ($1.11 million USD) on January 5, 2022. This is the largest single sale in his recent offloading of Doodles NFTs, with Pranksy having sold 28 other Doodles via bids for 77 ETH total in the past week.
Discussing the sale on X, Pranksy noted that he’d “love to say I’ve enjoyed every day we spent together, but it’s been pretty dire since that day”, reflecting on the loss and the downtrend in the NFT market overall.
This came just days after Doodles announced DreamNet - an AI-based media protocol that will be powered by their soon-to-launch $DOOD token.
Two token launches, two price drops 😭
Two major web3 gaming tokens have launched this week - and both have seen mixed results.
Gunzilla Games - creators of Off The Grid - launched $GUN on March 31. $GUN is currently valued at $0.04 USD, well over 50% below its launch price, with a market cap just shy of $25 million USD and a fully-diluted valuation of above $400 million USD.
Tavernlight Games - creators of RavenQuest - launched $QUEST on April 3. $QUEST is currently valued at $0.09 USD, 15% below its launch price, with a fully-diluted valuation just short of $100 million USD.
Though these are significant figures, both are trading below expectations - and the impact of these launches on their respective titles remains to be seen.
